AHA and Urban Sketchers member Jane Hannah alerts us to an event this Sunday, February 28. She writes:
On February 28th we will meet at the main entrance of La Grande Bibliothèque when the library opens at 10 am (475, boulevard De Maisonneuve Est). This a grand place for drawing spaces, people, views from the windows, etc. Drawing is permitted inside the library. At noon we can go out in the neighbourhood for lunch and then sketch some more in the library. At 3:30. pm we’ll meet back at the main entrance, find a coffee shop and have a review of sketches.
For more information about the group, please visit their website.
The Grande Bibliothèque is well worth a visit. Membership is free to all residents of Quebec. An audioguide is available in English and French to orient you to the space and its collection. A wide variety of seating can be found, including an area that provides a vista of urban landscape, complete with balconies, alleys, clotheslines and garages.
Until August 28, reservations are available to experience The Library at Night, “a virtual exploration of 10 of the world’s most fascinating libraries. It was designed by the Ex Machina production company and its artistic director, multidisciplinary artist Robert Lepage, based on an original idea by BAnQ.“
